Community Division Practices

Community teams are entitled to 2 practice sessions which are conducted out of Riverside Park in Hartford. To ensure you have a great time, all of your team members (including your drummer) should make every effort to attend these practices.

At each practice you will spend about an hour on the water, but you should plan on dedicating about 2 hours in total to each outing. You are going to be in a boat so yes, you will get wet, and you should dress accordingly. We recommend a change of clothes including dry shoes.

Our #1 goal is safety. Each paddler is required to wear a life jacket (PFD). All of our practice boats are accompanied by a safety launch boat. We have extensive safety procedures in place and we spend about 20 minutes prior to your fist practice briefing you on these procedures.

Extra Practices

Extra practices can be arranged for discounted rate of $150/practice for registered dragon boat teams.

Entrance to Riverside Park and the Riverfront Boathouse from Liebert Road East and West Bound

DIRECTIONS

From North of Hartford, take I-91 South to Exit 33, Jennings Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Jennings Rd and then take your first right onto Liebert Rd. The park entrance is on your left.

From South of Hartford, take I-91 North to Exit 33, Jennings Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Jennings Rd and then take your first right onto Liebert Rd. The park entrance is on your left.

From East of Hartford, take I-84 West to Exit 51, I-91 North and then take Exit 33, Jennings Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Jennings Rd and then take your first right onto Liebert Rd. The park entrance is on your left.

From West of Hartford, take I-84 East to Exit 51, I-91 North and then take Exit 33, Jennings Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Jennings Rd and then take your first right onto Liebert Rd. The park entrance is on your left.

Parking

Free parking available within the Park. Public parking is available within the park. Designated parking is available for functions held at the Greater Hartford Jaycees Community Boathouse (located in Riverside Park).
